Aluminum Casting Supplier for Bearings, Housing Units, & Labyrinth Seals

Tim Robbins / August 3, 2018

Erie Bronze & Aluminum is an aluminum casting supplier that manufactures high-quality castings used to produce labyrinth seals, bearings, and housing units. A labyrinth seal is a type of mechanical seal that provides a tortuous path to help prevent leakage, while bearings are machined elements that constrain to a desired motion, reducing friction between moving parts. Bearing housings are used to protect bearings and equipment. At Erie Bronze & Aluminum, we offer unparalleled quality both in the elimination of porosity and metallurgical consistency for all labyrinth seal, bearing, and aluminum housing castings.

Applications of Labyrinth Seals and Bearings

As a leading aluminum casting supplier, Erie Bronze & Aluminum’s aluminum castings can be found in everything from motorcycles to large industrial compressors. While our aluminum castings are most commonly used in the compressor industry, they can also be found in:

  • Oil & Gas Production
  • The Chemical Industry
  • Naval Applications
  • Cryogenic Refrigeration
  • Additive Manufacturing
  • Robotics

Erie Bronze & Aluminum’s castings can be used for various applications depending on the industry.

These applications include:

  • HVAC Components
  • Hydraulic Components
  • Electric Motor Components
  • Engines
  • Pistons
  • Pumps & Valves

Erie Bronze & Aluminum is a high-quality aluminum casting supplier that manufactures castings rough machined to the exact size required by your application and specifications.

Manufacturing Aluminum Castings for Labyrinth Seals, Bearings, and Housing Units

Erie Bronze & Aluminum’s metals are alloyed and tested in-house using our SPECTROLAB metal analyzer to meet the customer’s QS and ISO requirements. We are able to test the chemistry of every ladle we pour, which allows us to cut costs by alloying the material in-house instead of purchasing ingot. Generally, Erie Bronze & Aluminum’s rough machined aluminum castings are manufactured within the specifications below:

  • 75” > 5.00” O.D. with a max length of 13”
  • 00” > 17.5” O.D. with a max length of 16”
  • 5” > 21.0” O.D. with a max length of 12.5”
  • 0” > 27.0” O.D. with a max length of 7”
  • 0” > 37.5” O.D. with a max length of 5”

We have the capability to customize the outside diameter, inside diameter, and the overall length of our rough machined aluminum castings in order to meet customer specifications. Erie Bronze & Aluminum is the first US-based foundry to utilize a Foundry Degassing Unit, the newest metal treatment and gas analyzing technology developed in Europe.  Our proprietary casting process and degassing technology helps eliminate trapped gasses from the molten metal and assures uniform distribution of tin throughout the entire aluminum casting process.

A few advantages of this automated process include:

  • Reduced gas porosity
  • Improved surface finish
  • Reduction of hard inclusions
  • Increased tensile strength
  • Reduced machining costs
  • Consistent mechanical and physical properties

Erie Bronze & Aluminum is Your Aluminum Casting Supplier for Bearings, Housing Units, & Labyrinth Seals

Erie Bronze & Aluminum has dedicated more than 20 years to refining our proprietary aluminum process in order to manufacture castings for labyrinth seals, bearings, and other industrial applications. Erie Bronze & Aluminum supplies rough machined aluminum tubes and rings to your required dimensions to help cut down on your machining. The three aluminum alloys we produce in our foundry are 850, 852, and 443. These alloys have excellent labyrinth seal and bearing qualities, good compressive yield strengths, and excellent lubricity and machinability as opposed to other materials like plastics and AL6061. Call Erie Bronze & Aluminum today for all your labyrinth seal, bearing, and aluminum housing casting needs.
